LV SCHOOL TEACHER ROARS TO IMCA MODIFIED WIN AT DEATH VALLEY RACEWAY

AMARGOSA VALLEY, Nev. -- Hard-charging Las Vegas school teacher Dan Fitzgerald took the lead on the eighth lap here Saturday and captured his first IMCA Modified win of the season to highlight stock car racing action at Death Valley Raceway.

Piloting a newly-built car, Fitzgerald started eighth in the 15-car IMCA feature. He rushed to the lead in the third turn and held off two-time winner Ronnie Williams, Cory Simoneau, Levi Kiefer and Jim Bonetti to gain the victory in a 20-lap feature over a 1/3-mile dirt track situated between Lathrop Wells and Death Valley.

Michael Lysinger roared to his third victory of the season over Michael Brown and Anthony Broadhead in the 15-lap Mini Stock feature, while Mark Dillie beat Rick Rochell and Bobby Meek to collect his third triumph of the year in the 20-lap Dwarf car feature.

Former drag racer Eddie Sharon dominated the 15-lap Micro Sprint feature, while Jonathan Mitchell took the 10-lap Factory Stock victory, Wyatt Ehrp earned the 10-lap Super Stock win, Henderson’s Fred Hardy won the 20-lap Bomber feature and Wyatt Ehrp captured his second victory of the year in the 10-lap Super Stock feature.

Action returns to the facility April 5 with competition scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Included on the program will be IMCA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Classic Coupes, Modified Minis and Dwarf Cars.

The tenth annual Dwarf Car Nationals will headline the facility April 17-19.
